An endoscopy is a nonsurgical procedure which helps a gastroenterologist examine a person’s digestive tract. During an endoscopy, a flexible tube with a light and camera attached to it is inserted into the digestive tract. This allows your doctor to view pictures of your digestive tract on a color TV monitor.
Examples of endoscopies performed are gastroscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy.
